You can work with colors\, dots\, lines\, shapes and textures and create a personal visual rhythm in a painting but you can also feel free and work in the intuitive way\, gestural\, you also can explore all different kinds of techniques. \nThe workshop series include six sections: Grisaille\, Layering\, Blending\, Sgraffito\, Stippling and Wet on Wet\, at each section you will learn a specific technique which will help you to achieve a new level for your abstract learning process …… on every second Monday\, Rolando\, our friend\, host and artist from Cuba is looking forward to assist you to enjoy this new creative experience.You don’t necessarily need to participate the workshops in sequence. Every workshop is an individual section. \nAbout Today’s workshop –Stippling \nStippling is a great dotting technique where you add your paint in dots onto your canvas or surface. To create these dots of color you can use multiple types of tools from q-tips\, the backside of your paint brush handle\, paint markers or specialized dotting tools. \nThis event is limited to a maximum of 10 people per session to ensure a calm atmosphere and optimal guidance. \nFind more about Rolando’s work here. \nPlease note: This is not a typical “guided event”. There will be no step-by-step instructions for a particular painting. Instead\, Rolando will show you techniques and tricks and encourage you to paint intuitively and freely. Also\, this event takes place during our studio opening hours\, we might have some open painting guests as well at the other table. \n No prior Painting experience necessary\, we’ll provide options for all levels\n 1 canvas and all Painting Materials Provided and Included in the Ticket Price. Dort haben wir einen ganzen Bereich des Ateliers dem Action Painting gewidmet\, in dem Ihr Euch sorglos mit Pinseln\, Spritzpistolen und weiteren Utensilien austoben könnt. Unsere Künstlerin Eliza startet mit einer kurzen Erklärung von Grundlagen und Techniken und lässt Euch dann direkt an einem ersten Probewerk experimentieren (30 x 40cm Leinwand). Mit der gewonnen Erfahrung geht es dann an Euer zweites Werk auf einer bespannten Leinwand (1 Stk 40x50cm Leinwand inklusive). \n Das Event ist für jeden geeignet – es werden keine Vorkenntnisse vorausgesetzt\n Inklusive Bereitstellung von Schutzkleidung (Maler-Overall\, Schutzbrille). As usual\, the event host will guide you through the painting while you are free to choose another color or canvas size. \nAbout the theme: \nClaude Monet was the leader of the French Impressionist movement. Interested in painting in the open air and capturing natural light. Masterful as a colorist and as a painter of light and atmosphere\, his work often achieved a remarkable degree of abstraction. \nFrom 1883\, Monet lived in Giverny\, where he purchased a house and property and began a vast landscaping project which included lily ponds that would become the subjects of his best-known works. He began painting the water lilies\, first in vertical views with a Japanese bridge as a central feature and later in the series of large-scale paintings that was to occupy him continuously for the next 20 years of his life. \nPlease note: Unlike our standard guided PaintEvents (mostly 2hrs)\, the instructions here are verbal. Rolando is happy to provide visual instructions (demonstration on a canvas) as well if needed. \n Level: Options for many levels provided. Sie zeigt vor\, wie die Strukturpasten und das Salz mit Acrylfarbe und Tinte eingefärbt werden und mit dem Spachtel in den zuvor gemalten Farbverlauf hinein gearbeitet werden. Die verschiedensten Strukturen; trocken bis flüssig\, fein bis grobkörnig\, matt bis glänzend\, bieten alle eine zusätzliche faszinierende\, haptische und etwas dreidimensionale Ebene zur Farbkomposition und Formgebung. Bei der abstrakten Malerei spielt die eigene Farbpalette eine wichtige Rolle und wird hier in der seriellen Arbeitsweise auf zwei Leinwänden von der Künstlerin angeleitet\, individuell erarbeitet. Eingefärbte Struktur-Schichten werden solange hinzugefügt\, bis die Kompositionen stimmig werden. She demonstrates how the structural pastes and salt are colored with acrylic paint and ink and added with the spatula into the previously painted color gradient. The wide variety of textures possible; dry to liquid\, fine to coarse grained\, matte to glossy\, all offer an additional fascinating\, tactile and  a bit three-dimensional layer to the color composition and shaping. In abstract painting\, one’s own color palette plays an important role and is here individually focused on in the serial way of working on two canvases guided by the artist. Colored structure layers are added until the compositions become coherent. The works can finally remind of something very natural such as rocks in the mountains or rust effects\, but of course they remain open abstract paintings.  \nThis is not a classic PaintEvent for a specific motive with step by step instructions. This class will be held by Eliza Witte.\n\n— Deutsch — \nDie Künstlerin Janka Stemmle wird am AFLOAT Workshop ihre Herangehensweise an die faszinierende FLUID ART Technik\, die ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit AFLOAT zugrunde liegt\, zeigen. \nDas was AFLOAT ausmacht beginnt beim Kreieren der benötigten flüssigen Konsistenz der Acrylfarbe mitsamt dem Experimentieren damit. Die Acrylfarben werden mit recht viel Wasser verdünnt\, nacheinander in einen gemeinsamen Plastikbecher gegossen\, wobei ein paar Tropfen Silikonöl hinzugefügt werden. Der Becher wird entweder mit der DIRTY-POUR oder der FLIP-CUP Methode auf einen festen Untergrund\, hier auf drei Holzplatten und eine Leinwand\, geleert oder umgekehrt. Als Untergrund verwendet die Künstlerin selbst ebenso Glas und Karton. Nun kommt der allerbeste Moment\, indem die Farben beginnen miteinander zu reagieren\, wobei ganz eigene abstrakte Formgebungen\, die an Zellen oder andersartige organische oder astronomische Motive erinnern. Die Künstlerin greift subtil ein\, indem sie den Untergrund etwas kippt und mit der Nutzung von Strohhalmen oder einem Föhn und einem Bunsenbrenner Luft und Wärme Veränderungen erzeugt. Die Arbeiten verändern sich bis sie ganz getrocknet sind wie von alleine weiter. \nDies ist nicht ein klassischer Event für ein bestimmtes Bild mit Schritt für Schritt Anweisungen. Im Falle einer Absage werden die Gäste mit einem Ticket per Mail informiert und das Ticket wird nach Wunsch entweder umgebucht oder komplett zurückerstattet. \n— English — \nThe artist Janka Stemmle will show at the AFLOAT Workshop her own approach to the fascinating FLUID ART technique that lies behind her artistic work AFLOAT. \nAFLOAT starts with creating the required liquid consistency of the acrylic paints including experimenting with it. To do so the acrylic paints need to be mixed with plenty of water. Then all colors are poured one by one into one common plastic cup whereat a few drops of silicone oil is added. The cup is poured on a solid surface\, here on three wood boards and one canvas\, either with the DIRTY-POUR or the FLIP-CUP method. As a background the artist also uses glass and cardboard. Now the very best moment appears when the colors begin to react with each other. Very unique abstract shapes emerge reminding of cell structures or any other organic or astronomical motives. The artist intervenes in a subtle way by tilting the surface a bit and using either a straw or a hairdryer and a heat gun to influence the painting with air and heat changes. The paintings still change from itself until they are completely dried. \nThis is not a classical event with step-by-step instructions for one particular painting. Sie erlernen die Grundlagen der Enkaustik\, das Brennen von Schellack sowie die Arbeit mit dem Bunsenbrenner. Das griechischen Wort „enkausis“ bedeutet „einbrennen“: Das Wachs wird auf einer Wärmeplatte flüssig gehalten\, auf Holz aufgetragen und mit einem Bunsenbrenner verarbeitet. Mit Bienenwachs zu malen ist ein berauschendes\, sinnliches Erlebnis. Es duftet wunderbar\, die Materialien sind 100% natürlich und wir erzeugen unvergleichliche Farbintensitäten und Lichteffekte. Anstelle eines Pinsel nutzen wir das Feuer zum Malen. Wir verbinden damit die einzelnen Wachsschichten und erzeugen gar einen kontrollierten Schellackbrand. Ein Schritt-für-Schritt-Kurs\, um mit kontrolliertem Feuer magische Effekte zu erzielen. Ihre zahlreichen Werke wurden erfolgreich in der Schweiz und im Ausland ausgestellt\, u.a. in 7 Einzelausstellungen. Sie unterrichtete mehr als 25 Jahre an der Universität Bern sowie an diversen Privatakademien. Seit 2018 verschreibt sie sich zu 100 Prozent der Kunst. 2021 erlangte sie einen Abschluss der Universität Florida im Bereich Art & Healing. Sie betreibt eine App\, mit der ihre Kunst mit Augmented Reality visualisiert werden kann. Ihre digitalen Kenntnisse fliessen nun ebenso intensiv in ihr Kunstschaffen ein wie ihre explorative\, zukunftsgerichtete Arbeitsweise. 2021 wurde ihre erste Videoinstallation Intu Ink in Zürich uraufgeführt. \n2022 stellte sie als erste Augmented Reality Künstlerin ihre digitale Kunst an der Biennale Art Expo Venedig aus. Sie war zudem die erste digitale Bildhauerin\, die an der 16. Dort haben wir einen ganzen Bereich des Ateliers dem Action Painting gewidmet\, in dem Ihr Euch sorglos mit Pinseln\, Spritzpistolen und weiteren Utensilien austoben könnt. Unsere Künstlerin Shima startet mit einer kurzen Erklärung von Grundlagen und Techniken und lässt Euch dann direkt an einem ersten Probewerk experimentieren (30 x 40cm Leinwand). Mit der gewonnen Erfahrung geht es dann an Euer zweites Werk auf einer bespannten Leinwand (1 Stk 40x50cm Leinwand inklusive). \n Das Event ist für jeden geeignet – es werden keine Vorkenntnisse vorausgesetzt\n Inklusive Bereitstellung von Schutzkleidung (Maler-Overall\, Schutzbrille). Experience a liberating and creative time-out with Action Painting.\nWe have been wanting to offer you this workshop for quite some time now. With the new studio at Zeughausstrasse 31\, it’s finally here. At this studio we have dedicated an entire area of the studio to Action Painting\, where you can let off steam with brushes\, spray guns and other utensils. Our artist Shima will start with a short explanation of basics and techniques and then let you experiment directly on a first test piece (30 x 40cm canvas). After that you can apply what you’ve discovered to your second work on a regular wood-frame canvas (1 pc 40x50cm canvas included). \n The event is suitable for everyone – no previous experience is required.\n We provide protective clothing (painter’s overalls\, goggles). Nevertheless we recommend that you do not come in your finest clothing.\n Please bring a pair of old socks or accept that your socks will be a bit colored.\n Included materials: 1 pc. 30x40cm canvas for practice. 1 pc. 40x50cm wood-frame canvas. Nurturing our relationship with nature provides an endless source of balance and artistic inspiration. \nAna paints wild flowers\, idyllic nature and its expressive disorder in movement. \nHer way of painting is in an impressionist fashion with free access to imagination\, to improvisation and to fantasy. Each canvas is as much a result of randomness\, as it is a product of planned brush strokes and striates of colors and washes.  \nThis is how it ends up acquiring its unique soul.  \nIt is a landscape upon which you can rest and let your imagination run freely. As an option\, you can add Mandalas to your painting. \nIn this course you will learn:  \n\nHow to draw flowers\nHow to paint flowers (insights about lights and shadows)\nChoosing the right colors\nPaint an abstract background – different techniques\nInsights about: color theory \, texture\, shapes\, contrast\, composition\, \nBuilding complexity layer by layer\nDeciding when the painting is finished\n\nThis is not a typical “guided event”. Be mesmerised by the incredible effects created when resin and alcohol inks combine with structure paste and gold. You can create an abstract image of a tropical island in the middle of the ocean or Swiss snowy mountains surrounded by a beautiful sunny blue sky. But be warned – it can be addictive!  You’ll love watching the inks react with the resin to make the intricate shapes and details. It’s a very relaxing process. \nOur class will cover the basics of the resin and alcohol ink techniques and inspire you to go on and create your own amazing tropical paradise. People really are fascinated by how these look\, and you will be too. \nEven if you’ve never used resin or alcohol inks before\, everything you need to know is covered in the class. It’s fun\, easy\, relaxing and rewarding. \n\nWhat you will learn:\n\nLearn how to create amazing 3d art pieces using resin and alcohol inks\nWork with structure paste so you can create different compositions\nPlay with color\, have fun and learn to use new materials\nCreate your dream “holiday tropis islands”\n\n No Prior Painting Experience Necessary. If it’s your very first time painting\, you might wanna calculate a bit more time to finish the painting. Also\, we recommend to skip a detail or two and/or call for assistance when you need!\n Step by Step Instructions\, but you are always welcome to paint something else!\n 1 Ceramic Plate (33x25cm) and all Painting Materials Provided and Included in the Ticket Price\n Medium: Premium alcohol ink and resin materials .\n Language of Instruction: English\n Duration of the Event: ca 2.5hrs \nImportant: For optimal drying process and avoiding any changes to your painting\, we recommend that you leave your artwork in the studio at least overnight and pick it up at later. Alternatively we can also pack it and ship it to you for an additional 15 CHF per parcel (payable at the workshop in cash or TWINT). If you want to take your artwork home right away\, that’s definitely also possible but “at your own risk” (needs to be transported as horizontal as possible). \nPlease note: This event will take place only if at least 4 people sign up 48hrs before the event.
