NEW: Starting May 9, 2025, we will no longer list the “Open Atelier” sessions in the event calendar. Instead, the regular opening hours listed below will apply. Any changes will be announced on our website. The Open Atelier hours are also the pickup times and the opening hours for ceramic painting.
Drop by and pick up a brush! You decide what you want to paint. The Open Atelier is for anyone who wants to paint independently. It’s not a course, and these sessions are not guided. However, a team member is always on-site to provide you with materials and, depending on availability, share tips and tricks.
Space and Community
Don’t feel like dealing with paint stains at home? Looking for a central and inspiring place to paint and create? Then the Open Atelier is just right for you. It also gives you the chance to meet like-minded people and become part of the PaintEvents community.
Bar & Snacks
At our bar, you’ll find delicious hot and cold drinks as well as small snacks to complete your creative experience. Treat yourself to a break: whether it’s a flat white, mate, or a good glass of wine – with us, you can relax, unwind, and feel completely at ease.
Cost
At the Open Atelier, the price is made up of an entry fee plus material costs. If you bring all your own materials, you only pay the entry fee. You’ll find all the details in our price list.
* Note: There are separate prices for pottery painting.
Materials & Techniques
During all sessions, painting with watercolor and acrylic, as well as ceramic painting, is possible.
The use of materials such as resin or alcohol ink is not possible in all sessions. Access to the Action Painting area cannot be guaranteed during the Open Painting either. Feel free to check with us in advance to find out whether these techniques or materials are available on your preferred date.
Opening Hours and Reservations
We recommend making a reservation, but we also try to keep some spots available for spontaneous walk-ins. With a reservation, we guarantee you a 2-hour slot. If there’s space, you’re welcome to stay longer (until the end of the session).

Latest painting start time: 90 minutes before closing.
Location
Our bright and spacious studio is just a few minutes from Zurich Main Station, located at Limmatstrasse 73 (Tram stop: Museum für Gestaltung).

About PaintEvents
PaintEvents wurde 2016 in Zürich gegründet, mit der Vision, das Malen als entspannende Freizeitaktivität leichter zugänglich zu machen. Unsere Anfänge waren geprägt von punktuellen Events in verschiedenen externen Locations wie Restaurants und Yogastudios. Bald darauf haben wir in Zürich Enge unser erstes eigenes Atelier eröffnet und sind dem Quartier für beinahe 6 Jahre treu geblieben. Im November 2023 sind wir dann in unseren aktuellen Standort an der Limmatstrasse 73 umgezogen, wo wir unsere Vision in einem wunderschönen, hellen Raum weiter entfalten und leben lassen können.
